Coconut Beach

1. Introduction: Your Quiet Tropical Escape

If you are looking for a beach that feels like a private slice of paradise, Coconut Beach is the place to be. Tucked away on the eastern side of Koh Rong, this bay is famous for its calm, shallow waters, golden-white sands, and—as the name suggests—beautiful palm trees lining the shore. It offers a much slower pace of life compared to the busier parts of the island.

2. Why You Will Love Coconut Beach

  • Safe & Calm Waters: The bay is naturally protected, meaning the water is almost always flat and crystal clear. It’s perfect for a relaxed swim or for those traveling with children.

  • The Vibe: Unlike the party atmosphere of other beaches, Coconut Beach is all about relaxation. Think hammocks, cold coconuts, and the sound of gentle waves.

  • Stunning Sunrises: Since it faces east, this is one of the best spots on the island to catch an early morning sunrise over the Gulf of Thailand.

  • Bioluminescent Plankton: At night, the lack of heavy light pollution makes Coconut Beach another fantastic spot to see the glowing plankton right from the water's edge.

3. Getting There from Roomy Guesthouse

Coconut Beach is located north of Longset Beach. While it feels secluded, it is easily accessible from our base at Roomy Guesthouse:

  • By Scooter: Rent a bike from our reception for a 20-25 minute ride. The road is now well-paved, taking you through the island’s beautiful jungle landscape.

  • By Tuk-Tuk: A local taxi can take you there in about 20 minutes, making it an easy half-day or full-day trip.

  • By Boat: You can also arrange a longtail boat from Koh Touch pier for a scenic 15-minute boat ride directly into the bay.

4. Local Tips

  • Dining: There are a handful of small, family-run guesthouses and restaurants along the beach where you can enjoy a quiet lunch with your feet in the sand.

  • Day Trip Goal: It’s a great middle-point if you are planning to explore the island's eastern coast. You can visit Coconut Beach and then continue up to Prek Svay Village.
